All this reminds me of Keith Johnstone's brilliant book Impro -- Improvisation and the Theatre. A lot of the book has to do with how to teach and trick the mind to not try to appear original, but to trust to give the obvious and seemingly dull answer.

I highly recommend the book. It's an inspiring and insightful book that touches a lot of areas you've been talking about in your blog. (Also, it's quite thin too. :-)
